Reflecting scenes from her life along the shore of Green Bay, in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, Karen depicts nature, boats, harbors, shore birds, lighthouses and life through the eye and memory of a fisherman's daughter.
Admirers of Karen's work see in her paintings an expression of wonder and naivete. Her use of color and form deliver a tranquility and calmness most of us long to recapture from a time when life was uncomplicated. Upon viewing one of this year's new paintings, "Reflections," Cindy Schmidt, co-owner of the Old Church Gallery in Cedar River, MI, said, "When I look at this painting I feel relaxed!"
In just a few short years, Karen has put together a portfolio of paintings, prints, and greeting cards which are grabbing the attention of people who view them. Her work can be seen at the following galleries:
- OLD CHURCH ART GALLERY, Cedar River, MI. Open May - November.
- WINDWALKER ANTIQUES & ART GALLERY, Charlotte, MI. Open March-December
In the next few years, Karen plans to focus more on gaining entrance to other galleries, attending art shows, and entering juried events.
